ALJ Ice Hockey Gives Back

By Lia Marie Nuzzi

The Arthur L. Johnson 2024-2025 Varsity Ice Hockey team visited the RWJBarnabas Health Children’s Specialized Hospital on December 23rd.

Just in time for the Holidays, the team worked together with the program, Toys for Tots, to gather a surplus of donations. Toys for Tots is a US Marine Corp Reserve Program that provides unwrapped toys to Children in need during challenging times.

Captain Steven Garbowski, forward Matthew Gesior, and team manager Gianna Fogu visited the health facility personally to drop off the donations, which would leave a mark on the hearts of patients, family, and staff. Having the greatness of being able to complete an in-person drop-off allows for a personal touch, ensuring a direct handoff and the opportunity to create meaningful interactions.

Their visit provided an overwhelming sense of joy to the children, families, and staff. The team agreed that giving back to the community and gathering donations for those in need happened to be a nice gesture and would be memorable as the season prolongs.
