Basking Ridge Business Extending Aid to Hurricane Milton Victims

By Maddy Grieco

A business in Basking Ridge is working to help those who have been impacted by Hurricane Milton.

Rich DiLorenzo, who owns the Somerset Hills Exxon on Martinsville Road, has started an initiative to provide relief to individuals and families devastated by the hurricane.

In a spirited effort, he will donate 5 cents of all gallons purchased to the victims in Florida on October 21, 22, 23. He will also match the final figure at the end of the three days and donate that as well.

Patch documented DiLorenzo’s reason for helping. DiLorenzo, in explaining his plan, mentioned that while he “. . . can’t go down there and build a house so [he] might as well send some money.” He also mentioned that he has “. . . been blessed [his] whole life [with his Basking Ridge] business and [he has to] . . . return it and pay it forward.”

Hurricane Milton landed in Siesta Key, eventually moving eastward across Florida and affecting the lives of many state residents. Floridians are facing infrastructure issues along with grappling with the loss of members of their communities.

Aid from this Basking Ridge business will bring comfort and help rehabilitate the area and the spirit of the people.
