The Brooklyn Nets won just one game in the final week of the NBA season. The Nets have had it rough for these past 82 games. From roster changes to hot starts to catching the injury bug, it was a rough but much-expected season for Brooklyn. They now end the season with a record of 26-56, the worst season for the franchise in the last eight years. They hold 12th place at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
The Nets Lose A Tough One To Toronto
The Nets lost their second straight blowout to the Toronto Raptors in a 120-109 defeat. The Nets stayed afloat in the first quarter, keeping it close with the game tied up at 35 in the second quarter. A three-pointer by Jamison Battle broke the tie and opened up a 26 to 11 offensive spurt for Toronto. The Raptors did not look back as they continued to dominate throughout the game, scoring the first 12 points of the third quarter to extend their lead further. The Nets were without their main offensive squad, which included guys like Cam Johnson, Cam Thomas, and D’Angelo Russell, and Sunday’s game clearly shows their absence. The Nets were lacking on both sides of the ball throughout the game, leading to the loss.

For the Nets, Reece Beekman had 14 points, Drew Timme, Trendon Watford, and Keon Johnson had 13 points each, and Ziaire Williams had 11 points. Off the bench, Dariq Whitehead and Maxwell Lewis had 13 points each, and Tosan Evbuomwan had 12 points.

Brooklyn Gets The W Against New Orleans
The Nets broke their short losing streak with a 119-114 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Nets added another loss for the Pelicans, who moved to 7-33 on the road. This loss also made it the Pelicans’ fourth straight road loss this season. Both teams were without their main stars, keeping them sidelined due to the end of the season and missing the playoffs. The Nets grabbed the win thanks to Watford’s excellent 20+ point performance and Timme’s outstanding off-the-bench performance. The Nets were close to losing their lead near the end of the game, but a three-pointer by Evbuomwan in the final 40 seconds helped seal the win for Brooklyn.

Atlanta Takes One Against Brooklyn
The Nets could not carry their momentum onto their game against the Atlanta Hawks in a 133-109 loss on the road. It was a big night for Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher, with a 38-point game that helped lead the Hawks to victory. His performance helped separate the gap between the Hawks and the Nets, up 69-45 and they never lost the lead for the entire game. The Nets struggled without a primary scorer on the court and could not defend well against an offensive-heavy team like the Hawks.

Brooklyn Struggles In The Wolves Den
The Minnesota Timberwolves were the next team to beat up on an exhausted Nets squad in a 117-91 loss for Brooklyn. Despite Anthony Edwards’ rough seven-point performance, Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle helped carry the Timberwolves to a blowout win. Edwards received his 18th technical foul of the season during the game, leading to a suspension for Edwards in the next game. Gobert had a 30+ point game with 11 rebounds to help dominate the Nets. Brooklyn struggled with a lackluster roster, missing their main starters and giving experience out to the young guys. The Nets are now in recovery mode and utilizing the young guys for experience while resting the starters for the next season. The badly bruised Nets had few tools to stop the Timberwolves and took the tough loss to the chin.

For the Timberwolves, Gobert had a double-double with 35 points and 11 rebounds, Julius Randle had 21 points, and Jaden McDaniels had 11 points.
The Knicks Reign Over New York
The New York Knicks proved they were the better New York basketball team in a 113-105 victory over the Nets. The Knicks were also without their starters, outside Mikal Bridges, to rest before the playoffs. Former Net Bridges extended his consecutive game streak by suiting up and quickly getting a foul to get some rest before the playoffs. Bridges has now played 556 straight games throughout his career. The Knicks were carried by Landry Shamet and his season-high 29 points to help take care of the Nets. Both Watford and Martin had 20 points each for the Nets, but their performances weren’t enough against the more talented Knicks squad, leading to a season-ending record of 26-56 for the Brooklyn Nets.

What’s Next For The Nets
With the regular season officially over, the Nets can finally focus on the future. The Nets can look to upgrade their defense, and while they’re not likely to get the superstar Cooper Flagg, they still have a handful of choices that can help improve the team. The Nets will likely have another struggling season next year and focus on developing the young talent. Still, the Nets can have a bright future if they stay healthy and build some chemistry amongst a future young core.
