Carteret Holding Full-Day Preschool

By Maddy Grieco

Columbus Elementary School in Carteret will now have free, full-day preschool for the town’s young learners

The school received a joyous sum of money from the Garden State, now having $5.58 million dollars to help fund their $10.6 million dollar project.

With this aid, they will be able to build classrooms and have the resources to find new teachers and administrators. The New Jersey Department of Education mentioned that Columbus Elementary School will now have room for 120 more students.

Carteret’s plan coincides with Governor Murphy’s plan to expand free, full-day preschool across the Garden State. Murphy has mentioned that “high-quality preschool can positively impact the trajectory of a child’s life.”

On December 4th, the Murphy administration allocated $42 million to increase full-day preschools in the state.
