Electric Workers Strike Deal
One month after South Jersey electrical workers went on strike, their union struck a tentative deal with Atlantic City Electric. During the strike, the company used contractors for daily work. The deal includes premium increases and a new fixed holiday schedule.
Historic Hotel Fire
A fire damaged a historic hotel from 1869 in Dunellen. The blaze started in the basement, unofficial reports state a possible clothes dryer had started the blaze. No one was injured. Actor Clark Gable once stopped at the hotel. It also was the inspiration for an episode of “The Honeymooners.” The Red Cross helped to relocate guests.
Homeschooled Students Banned from Sports
Homeschooled students in Wall Township, Monmouth County are no longer eligible to participate in school sports, clubs or any other extracurricular activities. It’s due to a policy change approved by the school board. The change comes as homeschooling numbers rise in New Jersey, partly because of COVID-19.
