The New Jersey Devils (18-9-2) will continue their five-game homestand as they face the Colorado Avalanche (14-13-0) on Sunday night.
The Devils are coming off a gritty win on Friday night, defeating the Seattle Kraken 3-2, coming from behind to secure the victory.
Jesper Bratt remains a dominant offensive force for the Devils, netting a goal and an assist in his 500th career game. Bratt has 37 points so far on the season, with 13 goals and 24 assists.
The tandem of Bratt and Jack Hughes has been outstanding. Jack Hughes tallied two assists in the victory over the Kraken, and the two have combined for 19 points in the last four games.
Stefan Noesen has proven to be an excellent addition to the Devils team. He fired a career-high nine shots on goal and is on track to break his own record with points on the season.
On the backend, Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen have been consistent for the Devils, each boasting a .907 save percentage.
The Devils’ power play stays on top, sitting at the top of the league with a 33.7% success rate.
After a struggling opening to the season for the Avalanche, the team has seemingly found some cohesion.
Colorado’s core continues to excel, as Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar each have 30+ points thus far.
However, the Avalanche are 2-4 in their last six games. Colorado sits in fourth place in the Central Division and 17th in the league.
The Avalanche power play has been effective. They are not too far behind the Devils with a 25.9% on the man advantage. Their penalty kill, however, has been struggling, and New Jersey will look to capitalize on any power play opportunity they receive.
Likely to start in net for Colorado is Alexandar Georgiev, who has had an uncharacteristically rough start to the season with a .867 save percentage.
The Devils will look to carry their momentum into the second game of their homestand. Puck drop between the Devils and Avalanche is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 8.
