Devils face Flyers in Sunday afternoon faceoff

By Gabrielle Nordstrom

The Devils are back on the road in Philadelphia for a Sunday matinee against the Flyers. They are trying to break their three-game losing streak. They are coming off a 6-1 loss against the Winnipeg Jets and look to recover against a divisional rival.

The Devils added a few new players before the trade deadline who will be making their first appearance in a Devils sweater. Cody Glass practiced centering the third line with Erik Haula and newcomer Daniel Sprong on wings. Dennis Cholowski was paired with Brenden Dillon on defense. With these new additions, some players will be coming out of the lineup. Defender Brian Dumoulin, who was acquired on Thursday, already made his Devils debut on Friday night.

The Devils have struggled massively recently, dropping their last three games and going 4-6-0 in their last ten games. They have also struggled to produce offense since losing Jack Hughes to injury. Jesper Bratt, Nico Hischier, and Timo Meier have to set the tone for the Devils going forward.

The Flyers are coming off a 4-1 loss against the Seattle Kraken. In the last three games, they have been scored on 14 times and have only scored five times. Philadelphia lost center Scott Laughton during the trade deadline as he was dealt to Toronto.

The Devils currently sit in third place in the Metro division, but other teams have been gaining on them. The Flyers are sitting near the bottom of the division in seventh place, just above the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Devils need all the points they can get with the playoff race at full speed. Will the Devils be able to grab two points on the road?

Puck drop is at 1 p.m. ET in Philly.
