Devils Look to Win at Home Against Golden Knights

By Gabrielle Nordstrom

The Devils are hosting the Golden Knights tonight at 7 p.m. ET on home ice for their first meeting of the season.

The Devils are coming off of a shootout win against the Pittsburgh Penguins where Nico Daws stopped 25 shots and was able to give the Devils a shot in the shootout. Daws stopped hockey legend Sidney Crosby in the shootout, along with Bryan Rust, Kevin Hayes, Kris Letang and Cody Glass. Timo Meier scored the game-winning goal in the seventh round of the shootout.

Jack Hughes scored twice for the Devils for his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season, giving him a total of 63 points on the season. Jesper Bratt added two more assists to his season, helping Hughes score both his goals.

The Golden Knights have been on a rocky stretch, going 3-11-0 in their last 14 games. They are currently on a four game skid, most recently losing to New York Islanders, 2-1. Despite their record recently, they are still second in the Pacific Division.

Captain Nico Hischier remains week-to-week, a devastating blow to the Devils and unfortunately has decreased the win percentage on the face-off dot for the Devils. Luckily, Erik Haula returned to the lineup after missing 12 games, giving the Devils a boost at the center position.

The starting goaltender is unconfirmed at the moment. The Devils can either ride the confidence of Daws, or head back to Jake Allen who has been inconsistent in net but when he is on his game, he is exactly what the Devils need.

The Devils look to build off of their win in Pittsburgh and grab another two points on home ice at 7 p.m. ET.
