Devils Ready To Take On Reigning Champs, the Florida Panthers

By Gabrielle Nordstrom

The Florida Panthers are in town to take on the New Jersey Devils at 7:30 p.m. ET Tuesday night.

After a troublesome road trip for the Devils, they finally got back into the win column with an exciting 3-2 overtime win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Jack Hughes continues to shine for the Devils as he is currently on a four-game scoring streak, constantly pushing the level of play for the Devils. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been lights out for the Devils as he makes highlight-reel worthy saves almost every game. He currently is one of the top goaltenders in the league and is currently in the conversation for the Vezina Trophy.

The reigning Stanley Cup Champions are fighting for first place in the Atlantic division, three points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs. They currently are 25-16-3. Sam Reinhart leads the Panthers with 51 points, 27 goals and 24 assists.

The last time these two met, the Devils were playing some of the best hockey we have seen from them in years. The Devils steamrolled over the Panthers two times in a row, defeating them 4-1 and 6-2 at the Amerant Bank Arena. Jesper Bratt scored a hat trick in the 6-2 win while 10 others found themselves on the scoresheet over the two games.

The Panthers are coming off a 4-3 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers and will be on the second half of a back-to-back.

Spencer Knight will start in goal for the Panthers while Markstrom will most likely get the nod for the Devils, but has yet to be confirmed.

Catch the Devils take on the Panthers tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
