Devils stars Jack Hughes and Dougie Hamilton both are out of the lineup due to suffering injuries in recent games.
Hughes has been placed on LTIR and had successful shoulder surgery. His season-ending injury came after crashing into the boards after being accidentally tripped by Vegas player Jack Eichel. Hughes had surgery on his other shoulder just last summer. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for training camp come the fall.
Before the surgery, he had conversations with his family, representatives and doctors to confirm he truly wanted to have the surgery performed. In the end, the surgery was the final decision and it was done by Dr. Peter Millett in Vail, Colorado.
Hamilton’s the most recent Devil to be faced with an injury. According to ESPN, he is day-to-day, but according to other sources he is week-to-week. The Devils have not put out an official statement regarding his status or the injury.
In addition to Hamilton being out, the Devils have also been missing shut-down defender Jonas Siegenthaler since the 4 Nations break.
With these two blue liners out of the lineup, there are big holes to fill in the defensive unit.
With the trade deadline looming, the Devils are still buyers despite playoff appearance odds lessening by the day. Who will we see the Devils go after to fill the spots of those out with injury?
