Devils Visit St. Louis Blues Looking to Tie Season Series

By Gabrielle Nordstrom

The Devils look to add another win to their season as they take on the St. Louis Blues on the road Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.

After going 3-1-1 in their recent homestand, the Devils look to build off their success as they enter a two-game road trip.

The Devils’ defense was top tier during their homestand, a huge part of their success. They held teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and LA Kings to less than 18 shots the entire game. In their most recent victory against the Chicago Blackhawks, their stars came to play as Dawson Mercer, Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier and Timo Meier all found the back of the net, stopping any outside noise about the offensive production.

The Devils will look for Hughes and Jesper Bratt, who are both having terrific seasons, to get the Devils going. When at least one half of the PB&J duo are playing at their best, it gives the Devils a much greater chance at pulling out a victory. When both are going, they seem to be an unstoppable force.

Special teams need to get back on track as the Devils lethal power play has seemed to go cold. This special power play group has been a huge part of their dominating success, but fortunately, the Devils, do not rely on it. Their penalty kill remains above league average, coming in at eighth overall.

Jacob Markstrom has been stellar in net for the Devils as of late, going 7-2-1 in his last ten starts. Jake Allen is coming off an injury, but he should be good to go when called on. The starting goaltender is not confirmed.

The Devils played St. Louis less than a month ago where they got shut out in front of home fans. Blue’s goaltender Jordan Binnington stopped all 32 shots the Devils fired, while Jacob Markstrom let in 3 goals on 20 shots, ending the night with a save percentage of .850.

St. Louis is coming off a 3-2 win against the New York Rangers. Jordan Kyrou, who currently leads the Blues in points, Pavel Buchnevich and Robert Thomas all scored in their victory.

The Devils’ play lately has looked like a team who is ready to be considered a cup contender. The Devils look to tie the season-series against the Blues. Will they be able to steal a win?

Puck drop is at 8 p.m. ET.
