It has been a rough season so far for the New York Football Giants as they sit at 2-10 on the year with only five games remaining in the regular season. On the slate this week for the G-Men they face the New Orleans Saints (4-8) at home in MetLife Stadium.
The Giants are looking to bounce back from their Thanksgiving Day loss to the Dallas Cowboys and snap their seven game losing streak. QB Drew Lock will get the nod again despite QB Tommy DeVito being healthy again.
Unfortunately for the Giants they will be without key resources DL Dexter Lawerence (elbow) and TE Theo Johnson (foot) as both are headed to the IR and will be out for the remainder of the season. On top of the two new IR sends, for this week the Giants will also have to work around missing pieces CB Deonte Banks (Rib), DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches (Neck/Shoulder) and ILB Bobby Okereke (Back).
The #Giants have placed DL Dexter Lawrence (elbow) and TE Theo Johnson (foot) on injured reserve, ending their seasons.

Last Time Out
After what seemed to be a bit of a blowout in the third quarter against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day the Giants were able to crawl back in the fourth and make the loss respectable with a final score of 27-20.
The Giants and Cowboys were trading scores for the majority of the first half with the Cowboys striking first with a 23 yard field goal. The Giants then responded with a Tyrone Tracy Jr rushing touchdown to take a lead.
The Cowboys doubled down in the second with back-to-back scores with a 33-yard field goal and a 23-yard interception pick six. Thankfully the Giants were able to get back on the board with a 46-yard field goal to cut the Cowboys lead 13-10 heading into the locker room.
The third quarter was all Cowboys with Dallas finding the end zone twice. Once in the air with Brandin Cooks and once on the ground with Rico Dowdle to bump thier lead all the way up to 27-10.
However in the fourth quarter the Giants woke back up and kicked a 47 yard field goal to cut the lead once again. Then in the final three minutes Lock ran it in for a touchdown himself to end the game 27-20.
All About The Saints
The Saints are coming off of a 21-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at home last Sunday. Saints QB1 Derek Carr was solid in the matchup going 24/37, 184 yards and one touchdown in the matchup. RB Alvin Kamara had a nice day with 112 yards off 23 carries. WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling had the lone touchdown for the Saints in addition to 36 yards off two receiving.
Offense
As a whole, the Saints total offense is ranked 12th in the league with 345.7 offensive yards average and 31 offensive touchdowns. In the pass the Saints are ranked 19th with 213.9 passing yards average and 16 passing touchdowns. On the ground the Saints are ranked 10th with 131.8 rushing yards average and 14 rushing touchdowns.
Defense
On defense the Saints are one of the weakest, ranked 30th in total defense with 385.1 defense yards average and 32 touchdowns allowed. Against the pass the Saints are just as weak, ranked 29th with 249.1 pass yards allowed average and 12 pass touchdowns allowed. Against the rush the Saints are slightly better ranked 26th with 136 rush yards allowed average and 15 rush touchdowns allowed.
How Do The Giants Square Up?
Offensively for the Giants they square up at 26th overall with 299.1 offensive yard average and 19 offensive touchdowns. In the pass the Giants are one of the worst at 31st and have 183.2 pass yard average and eight passing touchdowns. On the ground the Giants are much better at 15 with 115.9 rushing yards average and 10 rushing touchdowns.
Defensively for the Giants overall they sit at 19th and have 340.1 defensive yards average and 30 touchdowns allowed. Against the pass the Giants are one of the best in the league at six with 194.3 pass yards allowed and 13 pass touchdowns allowed. Against the run the Giants are ranked 29th in the league with 145.8 rush yards allowed average and 13 rushing touchdowns allowed.
It should be as difficult as it’s been this season for the Giants to find the end zone against a pretty weak Saints defense. However, with key crucial pieces on the defense missing especially to the defensive line for the Giants it will be interesting to see if the defense will be able to hold up a pretty good Saints offense. At the end of the day it is going to come down to which defense can outlast the other and which offense can get hot and stay hot.
