Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart highlight Giants’ 2025 draft class

By Jordan Beaudoin

The New York Football Giants made significant strides in the 2025 NFL Draft. They selected seven players to help back together their offensive and defensive lines. The Giants added new talent and are ready to swing back into action for this coming season. Here is a brief recap of the latest members of Big Blue.

Abdul Carter (Round 1, Pick 3)

The Giants picked Carter with the third overall pick out of Penn State. The linebacker picked up 12 sacks and led the nation with 23.5 tackles for loss last season with the Nittany Lions on his way to an All-American selection. He is known for having explosive speed and tackling prowess. The Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year’s leadership and playmaking abilities are expected to significantly impact the Giants’ defensive line.

Jaxson Dart (Round 1, Pick 25 via Trade)

After the Giants traded with Houston to move back into the first round, New York selected Jaxson Dart as the possible quarterback of the future for the franchise. He brings a strong arm and mobility to the quarterback position where needed. Dart is a product of Ole Miss, the same college former Giants quarterback Eli Manning attended, which will undoubtedly create comparisons to the two-time Super Bowl champion. He stood out in 2023 at the Peach Bowl, throwing 379 yards and four touchdowns. Dart is expected to develop behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, which many pundits believe is good.

Darius Alexander (Round 3, Pick 65)

Darius Alexander will add depth to a strong defensive line, which is very much needed. Coming out of Toledo, he was known for his ability to disrupt plays and pressure quarterbacks, resulting in 75 tackles for loss for Toledo. His addition aims to enhance the defense and provide more mass on the D-Line.

Cam Skattebo (Round 4, Pick 105)

Cam Skattebo is a versatile running back from Arizona State. He is one asset that the Giants are looking forward to adding to their roster. His strong agility and vision make him very valuable to the team. Skattebo will help the Giants’ backfield as a complement to Tyrone Tracy, who had an impressive rookie year for the Giants.

Marcus Mbow (Round 5, Pick 154)

Marcus Mbow is another strong player being added to the Giants’ offensive line. Mbow is coming out of Purdue and ended his season with an injury. However, he has plenty of experience playing guard and tackle positions. He will be another asset the Giants can use for their offensive line this upcoming season.

Thomas Fidone (Round 7, Pick 219)

New York selected Thomas Fidone in the seventh round. He is a tight end from Nebraska. He has very good speed and excels when he gets the chance to play on the field. His blocking ability is limited, but he has a chance to shine with the New York Giants. With some help and work, he can be one of the guys they can count on on the field.

Korie Black (Round 7, Pick 246)

With their final pick of their NFL Draft, the Giants selected Korie Black, a cornerback out of Oklahoma State. He started all three years while playing with the Cowboys, picking up three interceptions and 12 pass defenses. While he was not invited to the NFL Draft Combine, he impressed scouts during the Oklahoma State pro day. He can stop receivers and break up passes, but he was also successful on special teams as a punt team gunner, making him valuable.

Each draft pick was well thought out, as the Giants hit all their markers for what they needed for this year’s draft. The hope is that all the picks pan out and help lead Big Blue to a renaissance at MetLife Stadium.
