The Vegas Golden Knights (28-9-3) look to extend their 3 game winning streak this Thursday at T-Mobile arena at 10 P.M. against the struggling New York Islanders (15-18-7).
Coming into this game, Vegas stands first in the Pacific division and the league with an impressive sum of 59 points. It’s obvious they’re on a roll as the team has won their last 3 games, and in their last 10 they’ve had a record of 9-1-0. They also currently possess one of the best records in the NHL. Seeing them take the win Thursday night wouldn’t be a surprise, but that doesn’t mean to count the Islanders out.
The Islanders’ effort seems to be lacking lately as even with a win in their most recent game, they still sit opposite of Vegas in the standings with 37 points, which puts them to be last in the Metropolitan Division. Alongside falling short in the standings, they’ve also fallen short in their last 10 games, with a record of 4-6-0.
On the bright side, when New York can take the win, they do dominate their opponents. The team can acknowledge their struggles and fight back consistently also, which is the first step into finding their way to staying in the win column.
Mark Stone, who was a massive contributor to the win Vegas obtained in their last game, is someone who can definitely be a threat to the Islanders. In his last 3 games, he scored once in each and has had an assist in two. It’s predictable to see Stone cash in and grab his 4th straight goal in the upcoming game. Along with Stone, there is also Jack Eichel, who leads the Knights in points with 53. Eichel is an amazing playmaker who will most likely get into the Islanders way of trying to win. Ivan Barbashev is another player to mention as he leads the team in goals with 15 of them.
For New York, some players to look out for are Anders Lee, who scored twice against Boston Sunday, one of those goals being the overtime winner. Lee is also a physical player, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him lay some hits. Bo Horvat is another name to bring into the mix as he leads the Islanders in assists. Both of these players together make a lethal duo.
Since both teams play a physical style, it’s forecasted to see some hits and maybe even fights break out. Having the stakes be high for the win also intensifies the fire in every player, which could lead to some fisticuffs.
Even with both teams almost being polar opposites of each other, it’s still important to know either team could take the win. If you’d like to know which team ends up taking the win, make sure to tune into the game this Thursday night at 10 P.M.
