HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP POLICE BELIEVE A METEORITE MAY HAVE CRASHED THROUGH A HOME

By On NJ

Hopewell Township police are investigating after an object, which appears to look like a meteorite, crashed through the roof of a home.

Police say the 4-by-6-inch shiny object hit the roof of the house on Old Washington Crossing-Pennington Road around 1:15 p.m. It tore a hole in the roof and ceiling before landing on a wood floor in a second-floor bedroom.

The home was occupied at the time, but there were no injuries reported. Officials have contacted several other agencies to help positively identify the object.

Police say the possible meteorite might be related to a current meteor shower called the Eta Aquariids.
