The biggest part of any hockey team is their number one goaltender and right now, the Devils number one goalie Jacob Markström is full of gusto.

Since his last game against the New York Rangers, Markström has really been on top of things. He has allowed three or less goals in each of his last five games. While playing against the Rangers, he allowed nothing to get by him.

Markström has had a solid career so far. He has played in 532 games and has started in 515 of them. Markström has spent several seasons playing with different teams. This is only his first with the Devils. This goaltender has been with the Florida Panthers, the Vancouver Canucks, and the Calgary Flames.

Markström was drafted in 2008 by the Florida Panthers as the 31st overall pick. He was the first pick in the second round.

The Devils goalie has been one of the best things that has happened to the Devils in a while. He has earned the team wins in his last three starts and the one that really stood out was when he shutout the Rangers in the 4-0 game on Saturday afternoon.

In total he has had three shutouts this season. His record for the season with the Devils is 26 wins, 14 losses, and six overtime losses. He has appeared in 44 games.

The Devils got him in a trade for defenseman Kevin Bahl and a first round pick.

It’s almost as if he has made a comeback this season. Earlier this year, he suffered a MCL sprain in his knee. He was expected to be out for a while but made a return in February to practice and then back to the ice officially in March.

Before that, the 35-year-old was suffering and letting things get by him. The Devils were losing by three, four, and sometimes by five goals in certain games. However, with him having a team that works together and knows how to play the game they are on the brink of returning to the playoffs for another year.

He will be taking on the Boston Bruins with the Devils on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and he will most likely be the starting goalie. The head coach, Sheldon Keefe has already stated that Markström is their number one goalie for this season and they are thrilled that they brought him into the team.

With how well he has done since his return, he was made third star in Saturday’s game against the Rangers.

If he keeps this up, the Devils will definitely see the playoffs again this year.
