Sound the alarms! Jesper Bratt is breaking records!

Bratt broke the record for assists in Saturday night’s game against the Ottawa Senators. He registered his 61st goal assist, breaking a record held by former Devil captain Scott Stevens for well over 30 years, with a history of having 60 goal assists.

The assist record was broken during the second period of Saturday’s night game in Newark. It came on the power play as Bratt set up Nico Hischier to cut the Senators’ lead to one. Bratt now sits at the top of the Devil’s history books as the leader in assists in a single season.

The Devils have had an up-and-down 2024-2025 season. They have had some great games, but they have also had some games where they suffered significant downfalls. Since joining the team in 2016, Bratt has been an essential piece to the Devils’ puzzle since coming to the Garden State and has continued this season.

The left winger came out of the Sweden team before being drafted. Before being drafted, he scored four points, including two goals on the Swedish team in the Five Nations tournament. He was one of their top players.

When he entered the draft, he became the New Jersey Devils’ sixth-round pick, No. 162, and they did an excellent thing for the team by drafting him. New Jersey knew what they were getting by drafting him.

While breaking the record this season, he was very close last season, finishing with 58 assists. His career stats now stand at 149 goals, 291 assists, and 440 points in 542 games.

Bratt has been able to pull things together for the Devils and push himself harder than he has been. With Jack Hughes out for the season, he and others have had to step up and help the team look in much better shape.

Jesper Bratt may be why the New Jersey Devils enter the playoffs this year. However, he will need Timo Meier and Erik Huala’s assistance to make things happen.
