Manasquan Girls Win Yet Another State Championship In Girls Basketball

By Ross Rodney

Piscataway – The Manasquan Warriors Girls Basketball team looks to continue their dominance as they look to win another state championship.

On Sunday, the Warriors took on the Madison Dodgers for the NJSIAA Group Two Girls High School Basketball State Championship.

Both teams were looking to establish themselves in the first half on both ends of the floor. Manasquan enjoyed a slight lead at the end of the half, thanks to their penetrating defense.

In the half, they held the Dodgers to a 20 percent field goal percentage and did not allow any three-point field goals.

For the remainder of the game, Manasquan kept the defensive pressure up to keep their opponents from scoring. The Dodgers were trying all day to make a comeback but just could not get their shots to fall as they would finish the game shooting just 25 percent from the field and 14 percent from behind the arc.

But, a bright spot on the night for the Dodgers was Senior Forward Charlotte Tuhy having a double-double in her last game for the program, Charlotte totaled 25 points and 13 rebounds.

The final score of the contest was 47-34, as Manasquan won their 11th state championship in Girls Basketball. For the contest, they shot a 41 percent field goal percentage and 35 percent from three. They were led in scoring by Shae Donnelly, who finished the night with 12 points.
