WAYNE – Audrey Marnick continued her recent success leading the Wayne Hills gymnastics team to a North Jersey Gymnastics League (NJGL) Division B crown Tuesday evening at Wayne Hills High School.
Marnik won the all-around, vault, and floor titles as the Patriots tallied a 100.975 to take the team title.
On vault, Marnik led the way with a 9.225, far out pacing teammate Miyuki Dan, who finished in second with an 8.775. West Milford’s Madeline Park rounded out the top three on vault with an 8.75.
Holy Angles’ Cara Boyce took the uneven bars crown leading the way with an 8.425. Wayne Valley’s Bianca Riccobono finished second with an 8.275, and Marnick finished third with an 8.175.
A Holy Angels gymnast found the top of the podium again on the balance beam, as the Angels’ Eva McDaniel finished in first place with a 9.0. Passaic Valley’s Kourtney Matheis finished second on the beam with an 8.95, and Wayne Valley’s Maddies D’Alessandro finished third with an 8.55.
Marnick scored her second 9.0-plus score of the afternoon on the floor to finish in first with a 9.025. Matheis finished in second with an 8.65 and Wayne Valley’s Bianca Riccobono rounded out the top three on floor with an 8.45.
In the all-around, Marnick finished first with a 34.950. She was followed by Matheis who finished in second with a 34.225, and Riccobono who finished in third with a 33.875.
Completing the team standings, Holy Angels finished second with a 99.100, Wayne Valley finished third with a 98.300, West Milford finished fourth with a 92.650, Indian Hills finished fifth with a 90.925, Passaic Valley finished sixth with a 90.050, and Clifton finished in seventh with a 72.200.
Mount Olive Wins NJGL Division A Championship
Mount Olive captured the NJGL Division A championship Monday in Ridgewood. The Marauders finished in first place with a 110.575. They were followed by Ramapo, who finished in second with a 107.900, and Roxbury, who finished in third with a 104.725.
Ramapo’s Sophia DeLorenzo won the all-around title with a 36.900. She was followed by Mount Olive’s Amy Rubinstein and Meghan Rodas, who finished in second in third respectively with scores of 36.850 and 36.700.
The gymnastics post season continues with sectional meets on Nov. 2. Should any of the NJGL teams advance to sectionals, they would all compete in the North I sectional in Ridgewood.
