The Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District (MARSD) hopes to make the holiday season brighter this year for students and families in the district.
This year, the school district will implement a new initiative that serves students and families in need. Their Winter Wonderland Holiday Feast, planned for December 17, will provide those in the school district with a warm holiday meal.
Supported by MARSD Cares–the district’s charity group–the Winter Wonderland Holiday Feast will also provide presents and holiday-themed activities for those attending, in addition to preparing a hearty meal. MARSD Cares is looking for donations in the form of gifts, services and time from local businesses to fund the feast.
More than 80 families will be asked to join in on the holiday fun. Transportation may also be arranged for families.
MARSD’s food provider, Maschio’s, donated an additional meal to be served at the Winter Wonderland Holiday Feast.
To prepare for the event, the school district is looking for gifts for the young children as well as for ideas and activities to add to the fun of the event. Individuals who would like to volunteer at the event or send in a financial or gift donation are welcome to do so by contacting Darlene Gallagher, the confidential executive secretary, at 732-705-4007 or dgallagher@marsd.org.
