Mets Baseball is Back: Pitchers and Catchers Report to Port St. Lucie

Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez is bringing a ton of confidence into Spring Training, and 2025 is going to be an electric year for “El Troll.”

Having reported to camp in Port St. Lucie, FL, this week, Alvarez highlighted his offseason work and radiated a determination for the Mets to take it all the way this upcoming season.

Alvarez says Mets have the “Best Lineup in Baseball”

He confidently stated that the Mets have the “best lineup in baseball“ and that they can “fight with any team” with sights set on a World Series title. It’s hard to argue with him when you look at the depth of this roster, especially with the addition of veteran stars alongside rising talent.

There’s a serious belief within this team that they can go all the way this year, and it starts with a sharp and positive outlook—2024 was only a preview.

His mentality has definitely shifted for 2025. After some ups and downs last season, Francisco’s confidence seems more solid than ever. He spoke about how his mindset has grown stronger over the offseason, and you can see that determination in his game.

When you talk about a World Series contender, you need players who believe in themselves, and Alvarez looks ready to showcase what a force he can be in the batter’s box.

As for his game behind the plate, Alvarez continues to refine his skills. At Amazn’ Day, Alvarez spoke in detail about fine-tuning his framing and improving his pitch receiving. He’s becoming much more consistent in his ability to steal strikes, especially on the low corners.

His stops have been another focus as he works to cut down on passed balls and improve his blocking without an over-reliance on framing, something that’s critical for a young catcher.

Spring Training Has Sprung

Fans can really be excited about his approach at the plate in 2025. With an improvement in discipline and becoming a lot more selective, Alvarez is set to have a big year.

The power is undeniable, but his ability to take walks and make pitchers work will be a big factor in the success of this offense. Baseball is in the air.
