As Thanksgiving approaches, New Jerseyans can join in and enjoy the holiday’s festivities without leaving the Garden State.
The LEGOLAND Discovery Center in East Rutherford is hosting the smallest Thanksgiving Day Parade on Friday, November 29. The parade is unique to LEGOLAND, as it will be constructed entirely out of LEGO bricks.
This creative spin on a traditional Thanksgiving Day Parade will feature more than 20,000 LEGO bricks and more than 1,000 LEGO Minifigures, acting as a mini version of a parade seen on the streets of local neighborhoods or in Manhattan.
Designs, floats and figures seen at a standard Thanksgiving Parade, such as a turkey, will be displayed in this large-scale LEGO creation, making the event festive and filled with holiday cheer.
The LEGOLAND parade, designed and constructed by Master Model Builders, was completed in over 100 hours. The builders worked to craft items that would appeal to the holiday, including seasonal floats, mini turkeys, marching bands, balloons and a model version of Santa.
The lead constructor, Anthony Snyder, worked with the Creative Crew to design the parade and to place the model over LEGOLAND’s MINILAND, an area composed of LEGO bricks that replicates the cityscape of New York and New Jersey.
Interested viewers can purchase tickets to see the creation, beginning on Friday, November 29 through Wednesday, January 1.
