MONMOUTH COUNTY POLICE SEARCH FOR PERSON WHO DUMPED PUPPY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

By On NJ

Police in Monmouth County are searching for those responsible for abandoning an emaciated puppy on the side of a road in Neptune Township.

Late Sunday night, a resident found the 8-week-old pitbull puppy abandoned in the Myrtle Avenue area of town and called the Monmouth County SPCA. “Matilda” as members have now named her, had labored breathing and was unable to lift her head.

Her health has since improved over the last few days, and she’s begun eating and interacting with other dogs at the shelter. The SPCA says she is showing “small, yet promising, signs of improvement.”

“We’re doing our absolute best to keep this girl on a positive path and we’re so grateful to have all of you behind us, fighting the good fight,” the organization said.

The Humane Law Enforcement Division continues to investigate how the puppy ended up on the side of the road. The Monmouth SPCA is asking for donations to help with Matilda’s care. For more information click here.
