Two actors were seen around Matawan on Wednesday and Thursday as they are in the process of filming an upcoming movie.
Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman have made their way to the Garden State, stopping at the Stillwell Garage, a local vehicle repair shop in Matawan.
Hudson and Jackman are starring in Song Sung Blue, a movie tracing the journey of a married couple from Milwaukee who create a Neil Diamond cover band called Lightning & Thunder.
On Facebook, Restore Matawan shared that “Matawan is now considered a ‘film-ready town’ thanks to the initiative and local ordinance passed by Matawan borough.”
Within the past few months, several film crews have been spotted throughout New Jersey due to Governor Phil Murphy’s new initiative. He provided HBO, Netflix and Paramount hundreds of million in tax breaks, encouraging movie production in the state. In doing so, Murphy seeks to bring job development and creation to state residents. Netflix will open its largest studio in New Jersey–at the location of the old Fort Monmouth Army Base–because the state provided the company with $200 million in tax breaks.
