The Nets snapped their losing streak with a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers but started another one after losing three straight this past week. The Nets struggled to secure big leads and have had repeated fourth-quarter collapses. They hold a 22-45 record and are in 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Nets Take A Stinger From The Hornets
The Nets fell to the Charlotte Hornets 105 to 102, where the Hornets put up an offensive rally that snapped a nine-game losing streak. The Hornets fought back in the fourth quarter, led by Miles Bridges, to give them their first win since their victory against the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 19. The Nets had a late-game collapse that had them up by 14 points midway through the fourth quarter. The Hornets continued to battle hard and played hard on both ends of the court, leading to game-sealing free throws by Nick Smith Jr. to go up by three points. Cam Thomas tried to regain the lead with a mid-range shot but was blocked by the Hornets. The Hornets then prevented a potential game-tying three-pointer by Trendon Watford that ended in defeat for Brooklyn.

Nets Shine In Hollywood With A Win Over LA
The Nets gained their first win after their seven-game losing streak in a 111 to 108 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nets were able to play well against a Lakers team that was without a handful of key players, including LeBron James. Despite having offensive juggernauts like Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves on the court, the Nets could hang on towards the end and give themselves a victory. The Nets were able to execute some last-minute plays in the final seconds of the game, including a dunk by Noah Clowney, to secure the win for Brooklyn. The Nets took advantage of a Lakers team that functioned in their first game without LeBron James and stopped the Lakers from going on another winning streak.

Nets Lose To Streaky Cavaliers
The Nets lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 109 to 104, who extended their winning streak to 15 games. This makes it their second 15-game winning streak of the season. Despite being without All-Star Donovan Mitchell, the Cavaliers were led by Darius Garland to give the Cavaliers another win. However, the Nets could keep it close and within arms’ reach against the Cavaliers. Cam Johnson attempted a game-tying three-pointer but could not get the shot in and ended up in another loss for Brooklyn.

Coby White Heats Up Against Brooklyn
The Nets take another loss in their next game in a 116 to 110 loss against the Chicago Bulls. The Nets, yet again, committed another collapse after being up 92 to 80 to start the fourth quarter. The Bulls went on an offensive run that created a 17 to 3 run against the Nets, which gave the Bulls the momentum and executed their opportunity to gain the win. The Nets were holding onto a two-point lead when the Bulls yet again exploded offensively and put up six straight points to gain back the lead and secure the win. The Nets were another team that could not stop Coby White, who has been on an offensive onslaught and averaged 28.6 points in the last seven games. White put up 31 against the Nets, who helped the Bulls add another loss for Brooklyn.

For the Bulls, White had 31 points, and Kevin Huerter and Tyus Jones had 18 points each. Off the bench, Julian Phillips had 16 points, and Patrick Williams had 10 points.
Boston Gets Close Win Against The Nets
The Boston Celtics added another one to the loss column for the Nets in a 115 to 113 loss. The Nets struggled to stop the offensive game plan of the Celtics, which relied on three-pointers and Kristaps Porzingis, who helped secure rebounds and put the ball back in for some secure offense. The Nets were without Cam Thomas, who was recently announced to be out for the remainder of the season to treat his left hamstring. Like other losses, the Celtics went on an offensive run that gave them back the lead and extended it even further to secure the win. The Nets had a rally of their own thanks to back-to-back three-pointers by Cam Johnson and Williams but struggled to find time for a game-tying shot that led to the loss.

What’s Next For The Nets
The Nets are in tanking mode, but it doesn’t mean the team is necessarily bad. The Nets have played well against tough teams like the Cavaliers, Celtics, and Lakers. The Nets have a huge problem in allowing offensive runs by opposing teams that could have led to potential upset wins for Brooklyn. The Nets should look to draft some defensive anchors as their offense looks to be pretty good against even the top teams in the NBA. Fans can hope these losses can help Brooklyn grab some big men this off-season and create a Nets team that can at least compete in the play-in.
