The New Jersey Devils took on the New York Rangers at 12:30 P.M. on April 5 at the Devils home arena, the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

This was a strong and well played game.

In the first period things were pretty quiet.

There were no penalties or goals made.

There were attempted scores by both sides but nothing got past either Jacob Markstrom or Igor Shesterkin.

In the second period things got a little more exciting.

The puck was passed back and forth between the two teams. However at 5:23, a penalty was called on the Devils. The Devils center Justin Dowling was called for high sticking against the Rangers defenseman K’Andre Miller.

Another penalty was called moments later but this time it was on the Rangers centre Sam Carrick for interference.

Moments later, New Jersey scored the first goal of the game that was made by Timo Meier. He was assisted by defensemen Luke Hughes and forward Nico Hischier.

At 11:49 another penalty was called on three different players. The Devils Forward Dawson Mercer for tripping, Meier for cross-checking, and the Rangers center Vincent Trocheck for roughing.

The second goal was scored moments later at 12:23 as the Devils scored again. This time is was Jesper Bratt who used the snap shot to score the goal. He was assisted by Hischier and Brenden Dillon putting the score to 2-0 at the end of the period.

The Third period started off quiet once again.

The Devils started the third with a power play within the first few moments.

The Rangers had a penalty called on them at 6:22 with defenseman Will Borgen hooking against the Devils forward Paul Cotter.

At 15:01 Meier scored again. He has the assistance of defenseman Seamus Casey and Mercer putting the score at 3-0.

A minute later the Devils scored again at 16:12, making the score again was Hischier who was assisted by Bratt putting the team further ahead to 4-0.

The three stars that were named in this game were first star Meier, the Devils goalie Jacob Markstorm as the second star, and Hischier was named the third star.

The Devils will return on Tuesday to play the Boston Bruins at their home arena the Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey at 7 p.m.
