The moment Devils fans have been waiting for all season could happen tonight against the Boston Bruins on home ice at 7 p.m. ET.
The Devils could clinch their playoff spot with a win or if they go into overtime against Boston. They need to get one point out of tonight’s game to ensure their spot in the post-season.
The Devils are heading into tonight on a three-game win streak, riding the momentum of their impressive 4-0 win over the New York Rangers. Expect the Devils to feed off of the crowd’s energy tonight as there is no doubt the Rock will be jumping as playoffs are in the palm of the players hands.
The Devils will continue to lean on their captain Nico Hischier as he has been leading the Devils and looks like he is ready to make a return to the playoffs. He has eight points in his last five games and two three-point nights in his last three games. Hischier has caught eyes around the league as many have been speaking about his Selke Trophy-winner type style of play and even has been mentioned in the Hart Trophy talks.
There is no surprise that we are seeing Jacob Markstrom in the starter’s net after he shut out the Devils’ rivals, the New York Rangers in a big statement 4-0 win. Markstrom has won four of his last five games, the loss being in overtime against the Vancouver Canucks. After his injury earlier in the season, Markstrom looked shaky in net, but recently has looked like the Markstrom we saw early in the season.
Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman is confirmed to be starting between the pipes. Swayman is 1-4 in his last five and has a save percentage of .895% on the year.
The Boston Bruins have been on a decline for the majority of the season. They recently went on a 10-game winless streak which was eventually snapped with a 5-1 win against the Carolina Hurricanes. Just after beating the Hurricanes, they took a beating in a 6-3 loss against the Buffalo Sabres.
The last time the Devils and Bruins met, the Devils walked away with a 5-1 win. Fans are hopefully for a similar outcome and a spot in the 2025 playoffs.
Make sure to tune in to MSG tonight to watch the Devils take on the Bruins in what could be one of the most important and exciting games of the year!
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. Et.
