Last night, the New Jersey Devils hosted their annual “Sweep The Deck” Event. This event is a yearly tradition that the organization hosts yearly. According to nhl.com, the original event in 2020 aimed to raise one million dollars for the community. Since then, the 2023, 2024, and 2025 events have each exceeded their goal by a landslide! The night consisted of curling, beverages, and casino games including Poker, Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, and more.
The auction was one of the main attractions of this event. It featured signed memorabilia from players such as Sauce Gardener of the New York Jets, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Jeff Gordon of NASCAR. Not only signed memorabilia but also trips to various locations, famous guitars, designer jewelry, and much more were auctioned off (e.givesmart.com). A fan favorite was a VIP Devil’s Road Trip, which allegedly consisted of traveling with the team on the road to an away game! This was auctioned off live just last night for around $50,000!
Some of the special guests that attended this event were current players Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, Luke Hughes, Dougie Hamilton, Jesper Bratt, Timo Meier, and many others from the Devils organization. There were also sightings of Devils alumni, Martin Brodeur, Ken Daneyko, Chico Resch, and many others (nhl.com).
Many of the players were seen mingling across the event, often curling or playing casino games with many fans and supporters of this event. Signings took place in every corner, they were adorned and appreciated by all. Many of the attendees came home either sporting a new signed jersey, or a camera roll filled with memories of team interactions, fun and games, and the spirit of the New Jersey Devils community.
Sweep The Deck is an event for an amazing cause, the organization’s fundraiser raising for the Devils Youth Foundation. As the years have gone by, this event has consistently grown more and more, as the fundraising gets bigger and greater each year. It is simple to say that this year’s event was more than a success, and there is even more to come for the years that follow.
