NJ’s Southside Johnny Retires From Tour

By Maddy Grieco

Southside Johnny Lyon has announced his retirement from touring after 50 years, according to the Basie Center for the Arts.

As Johnny Lyon has ended his longtime tour, his December 31st performance with the Asbury Jukes in Red Bank has been canceled. Individuals who purchased tickets will be refunded.

The announcement shared that Lyon has retired in order to “manage ongoing health issues.” While he is no longer touring, Lyon or his band have not released information about future plans to record new music. His band is known for its authentic “Jersey Sound.”

The Jersey Show venues like The Stone Pony will now grapple with the loss of Lyon and his band, as they have provided South Jersey with fun-filled entertainment for the last 50 years, especially during holidays like New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July.
