The New York Red Bulls picked up a huge clutch win on Saturday night to secure three points, defeating CF Montreal by a score of 1-0 thanks to a big towering header by Red Bulls center back, Noah Eile. The win helped the New York Red Bulls break a two-game winless streak. The Red Bulls now find themselves in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.
A CAUTIOUS FIRST HALF
In the first half, both teams were simply trying to study each other, leading to very few goal-scoring chances. The Red Bulls kept a high defensive line to add pressure on CF Montreal and recover the ball at times. CF Montreal’s counter attacking play style was also very ineffective throughout the match as New York’s back-line of four were very solid on the night.
Eile’s Stunning Header
As the second half proceeded, the match opened up more, which was necessary if either team wanted to walk out of Sports Illustrated Stadium securing three points. In the 66th minute New York was granted a corner kick which then led to Noah Eile’s staggering header to open up the scoring. This goal is Eile’s first goal in a New York Red Bulls kit since joining the squad in last season.
CF Montreal pushed with everything they had in the waning moments of the game to try and secure at least a tie and take one point back home but were unsuccessful due to the solidness in the back line and Paraguayan international, Carlos Coronel who had five saves on the night which gave him his fourth clean sheet of the 2025 season.
What’s next?
The New York Red Bulls will be back with more soccer next week, traveling to what may be their most difficult game of the season against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF, who sit three spots above them in fifth.
