The Devils Fall Again In Game Four Of The Playoffs

By Jordan Beaudoin

The New Jersey Devils suffered another loss today in game four of the first round of their playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes. They were defeated 5-2. It was not a pretty game today at the Prudential Center for the Devils. New Jersey now trails the best-of-seven series 3-1 and faces elimination heading into game five.

Despite losing, the Devils had three standout performers during today’s game. They did everything possible to keep New Jersey in the game.

Timo Meier stood out on the offense. He scored a goal and recorded an assist. He was involved in a tremendous moment when he took out the Hurricanes’ goalie, Frederick Andersen, which led to Andersen’s exit from the game. Meier did his best to narrow the Hurricanes’ lead and showcase available opportunities.

The Devils’ captain also tried to keep his team afloat today. He gave his all in leadership and scoring prowess. He got his third goal in this series, trying to provide momentum to the Devils.

Lastly, Devils’ goalie, Jacob Markstrom, also had a good game against the Hurricanes despite the final result. He peppered with shots constantly throughout the game, making 24 saves on 28 attempts. While the Devils struggled to score, Markstrom did everything he could to keep Carolina shots out of the goal and tried everything to keep everything within reach during several key moments.

The Devils will travel back down to Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday for game five as they look to stay alive in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
