The Return of the Hughes Bowl at the Prudential Center

On Monday, March 24, the New Jersey Devils will host the Vancouver Canucks for the first and last time this season at 7:30 p.m. at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Both teams have lost their most recent game. The Devils fell short against the Ottawa Senators at home this past Saturday, losing by one. While the Canucks struggled to meet ends in New York against the Rangers, Saturday afternoon by losing 5-3. The Canucks last 10 games include a record of, 5-4-1. The Devils last 10 have been similar, 4-6-0.

On October 30, 2024 the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks faced off in Vancouver for the first time in the 2024-2025 season. The Devils took the win back home in a blowout, 6-0 over Vancouver.

Fans are eager for Monday as it has become the annual Hughes Bowl, including Luke (NJD) Hughes and Quinn Hughes (VAN), missing Jack Hughes (NJD). Jack Hughes remains out for the rest of the season, while in recovery, post shoulder surgery from his injury involved with a hit by Jake Eichel against the Vegas Golden Knights, on March 2. Jack Hughes underwent surgery at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado on March 5. The Hughes Bowl will be short one, it has now become Quinn vs. Luke Hughes.

As far as players to watch, the Vancouver Canucks Captain, Quinn Hughes picked up his 400th career point on Saturday against the Rangers while assisting on Dakota Joshua’s fifth goal of the season. So far this season, Quinn has picked up 51 assists in 56 games. Last year he played all 82 games with 75 assists, which was his highest career point total. Last season, Quinn Hughes won the James Norris Memorial Trophy. Canucks Brock Boeser has scored five goals in his past five games, leading up to Monday.

For the New Jersey Devils, Jesper Bratt leads the team in assists, obtaining 61 assists this season, over the course of 71 games. In total, Jesper Bratt has earned 81 points this season so far. Since joining the Devils in the 2017-2018 season, the current season has become Bratt’s best in terms of assists. Devils Captain, Nico Hischier leads the team in goals with 30 this season. Hischier has scored three goals in his last five games.

The game will be available for streaming across platforms such as; ESPN+, hulu, and Disney+.
