NJ residents have experienced a difficult ride this week on the Morris & Essex line and the Montclair & Boonton line due to downed power lines and felled trees.
Tropical Storm Debby has resulted in severe weather conditions, placing Essex County under a flood watch through Wednesday morning. The county was projected to have a Hazardous Weather Outlook, too. The storm resulted in fallen trees and power lines on the Morris & Essex line, according to NJ Transit.
NJ Transit suspended all rides on the line in both directions Tuesday evening to clear the path. Many train rides were canceled as services lost power. While rides resumed Wednesday morning, there were delays to which NJ Transit cited “mechanical issues” as the reason for continuing issues. “Weather-related equipment availability issues” led to difficulties on Tuesday evening as well, according to NJ Transit.
