VIDEO: State Police Save 2 Firefighters from Passaic River

By On NJ

A harrowing rescue was caught on camera of two Clifton Firefighters after their boat got stuck in the Passaic River on Wednesday, while attempting to save a stuck boat.

State Police used a helicopter to hoist the firefighters to safety. Video posted to Facebook shows an officer drop a line down from the helicopter, and rappels down to the partially capsized boat.

The firefighters had been deployed to help assist workers in different boats who were trimming trees along the river bank. Their boat ran into trouble due the river’s strong current. The firefighter rescue boat somehow went over the falls and became submerged while arriving to the scene to help.

No injuries were reported.
