As summer approaches and New Jersey gears up for beach season, the fight to keep our shores clean is more critical than ever. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Clean Ocean Action’s Beach Sweeps, the state’s largest volunteer cleanup event. In 2024, thousands of volunteers collected over 276,000 pieces of debris, much of it single-use plastic, revealing troubling trends in marine pollution.
