By Kaitlyn Giordano

Two men have admitted to attacking corrections officers at the Atlantic County Juvenile Detention Center back in 2022. The two pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a corrections employee. As a result of the plea deal, three years will be added to their sentences.

A man from Union County got a sentence of 40 years in prison for strangling his girlfriend to death in 2020. 24-year-old Brian Gonzalez Martines of Plainfield was found guilty by a jury this past summer.

Burlington County held a ceremony for the completion of a major restoration project at the Historic Burlington County Prison. The prison’s roof was replaced, and experts were able to preserve messages on cell walls that were left by prisoners.

And after 65 years, a Catholic school in Passaic County is closing its doors. Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Wayne has seen a decline in enrollment over the last few years. The last day of class will be June 20th.
