A Readington man was charged with animal cruelty, after shooting a Pitbull that was being aggressive towards another dog. 30-year-old Craig Cooke was also charged with second-degree possession of a weapon.

A Monroe man was killed on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Brunswick, after getting out of his car following a crash. The 40-year-old was struck by a tractor-trailer and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Monroe Senior Softball League, along with Fans for the Cure, hosted a charity game to help strike out prostate cancer. Township officials were in attendance, along with sports broadcaster Ed Randall and former Major League pitcher Pete Harnisch.

Mike Nelson, director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Monmouth University, has stepped down after nearly five years in the role. Nelson will be taking the same position at Dartmouth College; he’ll be replaced at Monmouth by assistant coach Damon Godfrey.
