A Ringwood woman, who worked as a paralegal, was arrested after writing herself over $700,000 in checks with money intended for the firm’s clients. 54-year-old Colleen Hallenbeck is charged with money laundering, theft and forgery.

A professor at Essex County College has been charged with criminal sexual contact and harassment. According to officials, the West Orange resident engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an adult student in November.

First responders in Franklin Lakes were able to rescue a dog that fell through the ice in Shadow Lake. The dog swam to a nearby island, about 75 feet offshore. The crew brought it back to shore using a homeowner’s canoe.

Members the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office who raised money from this year’s No Shave November donated $7,000 to the DeRosa family. The mother, Kim, is suffering from breast cancer, while 3-year-old Lily is fighting epilepsy.
