A man was killed while trying to cross Route 1 in Edison. The 63-year-old was struck by a car at the intersection of Plainfield Avenue. The driver, a 19-year-old from Jersey City, had the green light and is not facing charges.

The charges against six corrections officers who were indicted in the beating of an inmate back in 2020 have been dropped. The officers worked at the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Chesterfield. They all faced charges of official misconduct, tampering with public records and falsifying records.

Students from Marlboro High School’s criminology class observed a criminal trial, that was presided over by Superior Court Judge Natalie Watson. The event was part of the Monmouth Vicinage’s “One Judge, One School” program.

Calandra’s Bakery is remembering their founder and leader Luciano Calandra Sr. Calandra opened the business’s first location in Newark, back in 1962. The family also has bakeries in Fairfield and Caldwell.
