Police are investigating after the driver of an SUV crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer, which was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 287 in Mahwah. The male driver sustained moderate injuries.

A man from North Cape May was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing a child. 37-year-old James Gillespie was charged after police searched his home in 2023. He pleaded guilty in July of this year.

Allendale police officer Mark Dunn returned home after two weeks of recovery at Hackensack University Medical Center. Dunn was injured on Route 17, after a suspected drunk driver ran into his patrol car during a traffic stop.

Essex County reopened its Sea Turtle Recovery building at the Turtle Back Zoo after it was struck by lightning. Because of their dedication and hard work, West Orange firefighters and their families were the first to see the facility.
