A former Hasbrouck Heights fire chief has been charged, after making misleading statements about a crash that killed a 15-year-old girl. 61-year-old Timothy Moots was in his pickup truck, when he struck the girl on her scooter back in April.

A 55-year-old Pennsylvania man drowned while swimming at the beach in Avon-by-the-Sea. His body was later found in the Shark River Inlet. Two other swimmers who were in distress, were rescued and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The Hackensack Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual gala at Il Villaggio in Carlstadt. Local officials were presented with Distinguished Leaders Awards, honoring their dedication to the community.

Several people came out for the 9th annual Fallen Heroes Charity Softball Tournament. The event raises money for the Evesham Township Police Foundation and helps fund important community outreach programs.
