WEST MILFORD – The Wayne Hills gymnastics team continued their Passaic County dominance winning their fifth consecutive Passaic County gymnastics crown Wednesday evening at West Milford High School.
For the second meet in a row, the Patriots finished with a season high score, taking first place honors with a 102.025, far outpacing runner-up Wayne Valley’s 96.225.
Audrey Marnick again led Hills individually, placing first on each apparatus and the all-around.
Marnick led a Wayne Hills sweep on the vault, taking the top spot with a 9.1. She was followed by Miyuki Dan, who finished in second with an 8.75, and Izabella Ortiz, who rounded out the top three with an 8.675.
Marnick secured top honors on the uneven bars with an 8.225. Passaic Valley’s Kourtney Matheis took second with an 8.1, and Wayne Valley’s Bianca Riccobono finished third with an 8.075.
Balance beam provided the stiffest test of the nigh for Marnick as just 0.075 points separated first and third place. Marnick was able to secure an 8.6 on the event to eke past Riccobono, who finished in second with an 8.575. Wayne Hills’ Alexis Cardona rounded out the top three on beam with an 8.525.
Marnick broke the 9.0 mark for a second time during the meet on the floor exercise where she led the way with a 9.05. Riccobono finished behind Marnick in second place with an 8.475. Hills’ Izabella Ortiz rounded out the top three on the floor with an 8.45.
Wayne Hills took two of the top three spots in the all-around with Marnick and Ortiz finishing in first and third scoring 34.975 and 33.225 respectively, while sandwiching Riccobono in second, who finished with a 33.750.
Rounding out the team standings, host West Milford finished in third with a 95.975, Passaic Valley finished in fourth with am 84.925, and Clifton finished in fifth with a 71.675.
