Wildfires Burning in New Jersey

By Maddy Grieco

As New Jersey faces a red flag warning, wildfires are burning throughout the state. Gloucester County is currently experiencing a large wildfire.

On Thursday, November 7, the wildfire was burning around Carpenter Avenue in the Glassboro Wildlife Management Area.

As the wildfire burns, fire crews are seeking to protect the Evesham-Voorhees border, keeping homes safe from the 360-acre wildfire in the area. The fire, called the Bethany Run Wildfire, is 90% contained, but it affected 104 structures before fire teams could stop the blaze from growing.

The Glassboro fire is burning across many acres. To stop its spread, fire crews are burning fuel, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The fire is about 75% contained and has not yet harmed or damaged any structures.

To keep safe, residents should steer clear of Carpenter Avenue. There are several other wildfires burning throughout the state, including in Jackson Township.

NJ residents should be mindful of road closures as wildfires continue to pop up.
