The presidential election is only 18 months away and there’s speculating over who could throw their hat into the ring. One of them could be former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who is reportedly gearing up for a trip to speak at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics on Monday.
NJ Politics Host Laura Jones says, if Christie does enter the ring, he’ll face a competitive crop of GOP candidates. “Right now, the landscape is really all about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former president Donald Trump,” Laura Jones said. “As far as data goes, Chris Christie really isn’t registering right now on many polls.”
What could impact the Republican primary, a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump by a Manhattan grand jury related to the Stormy Daniels case. As a frequent contributor to ABC News, Christie could publicly respond. “If that happens, Chris Christie has a built-in platform media all there ready to get out and you know, speaking out and saying how much he disapproves of Donald Trump,” Jones said.
While much of the media speculation has centered around Trump and DeSantis, not many candidates have officially joined the race. Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy have formally entered the race. Former Vice President Mike Pence said this week, he has not decided yet.
